The recent flooding in Schenectady County and its surrounding areas has increased the need for Bellamy Construction’s insurance restoration and emergency repair services. “It is a two-stage process for homes hardest hit” said Brian Bellamy – Co-President who provides immediate response to homes that have been compromised structurally. First, Bellamy must stabilize homes to avoid further damage or a total loss. Once the structural damage has been addressed, Greg Bellamy’s insurance restoration services team can begin the clean up process and move toward a complete repair of all damages.

Flood victims are encouraged to read the following announcement from New York’s Superintendent of Insurance detailing consumer rights regarding Insurance Companies declining flood, hurrican and other coverage.

Tough Spots.
To remove tougher spots like paint and tar use a non-abrasive bathtub cleaner or a nylon scrub pad. For mold and mildew use 1 part bleach with 4 parts water.

Bellamy Construction provides a long list of home improvement services including installation of vinyl siding, windows and doors.

Bellamy Construction’s superior craftsmanship is evident in this 2010 kitchen remodel in Malta, New York. The overall objective was to incorporate tile the homeowner had acquired during a trip to Iran years back along with a granite countertop that traveled from Zimbabwe to be finished in Italy and installed here. While the floor plan remained the same, the kitchen boasts beautiful cabinetry in natural cherry. Appliances were fully integrated into the design with the application of the cabinet facades and the addition of African Sapele wood flooring with Waterlox finish to give the room a much more expansive look. The ornamental tile featured behind the Miele stove and Kohler under mount double basin sink and faucet is showcased by the surrounding brushed travertine backsplash in ivory. The result is a spectacularly unique custom kitchen.

Even routine winter weather can take a toll on your home’s exterior. That’s why Bellamy Construction has made a 2011 Spring Home Checklist. These are the top 5 things to inspect as warmer temperatures draw near.

#5 Dirty Air Conditioners.

The build-up of leaves and other debris left behind by winter weather can impact performance and efficiency. Make sure to disconnect electric power to your air conditioner’s outdoor condenser first, then clear it with a vent brush, power blower, garden hose, or your vacuum cleaner’s brush attachment. Be careful not to bend exposed cooling fins. If your yard has lots of trees and plants, wrap fiberglass mesh around the condenser coil to capture pollen and leaves. Replace the mesh as needed. Don’t allow debris to block airflow. Vacuum grilles inside your home to ensure good airflow. Remember to change your furnace filter. It’s important to change your filter often to prevent damage, costly repairs and to maintain your furnace so that it’s not overworked.

Even routine winter weather can take a toll on your home’s exterior. That’s why Bellamy Construction has made a 2011 Spring Home Checklist. These are the top 5 things to inspect as warmer temperatures draw near.

#4 Hazardous decks

Next on the checklist for Spring is to inspect your deck to make sure it is stable and holding up well against the elements. Look for water stains where the deck ties to the house. Ongoing water leakage can lead to decayed wood, which can weaken the structure of the deck and the house. If you have any doubt about structural integrity, call Bellamy Construction.

It is important to rid decks of moss and mold. Pressure washers can be effective, but if you see wood damage, like raised fibers, increase the distance between the spray nozzle and the decking. If your deck is ready for refinishing, do some research to see which formulas hold up best against the elements.

Even routine winter weather can take a toll on your home’s exterior. That’s why Bellamy Construction has made a 2011 Spring Home Checklist. These are the top 5 things to inspect as warmer temperatures draw near.

#3 Faulty Foundations

Most house foundation problems will be visible to the eye on the exterior of a house. If you notice changes to your home, such as cracks in brick and mortar, gaps between the garage door and the pavement or gaps at the corner of fascia trim that weren’t there before, then that could possibly be a foundation problem. The interior of a home will start to show signs as well. If the doors or windows jam when opening or if the walls or doors are cracked, then this is a sign of a foundation problem.
These are typically major projects that cannot be done without foundation contractors who are trained to address the problems with the latest technology and skills. If you notice any signs of a faulty foundation give Bellamy Contracting a call immediately. It is best to not let this kind of problem go for very long because it’ll only get worse over time and begin to create more troubles in the future.

There is one chore that cannot be forgotten about when it comes to the exterior upkeep of your home-cleaning out your gutters. It’s a chore that doesn’t sound appealing in the least, but must be done to make sure your drainage system is working properly. Rain gutters usually need to be cleaned out twice per year.

Gutters can collect many elements in them and when it rains, everything gets pushed down, sometimes clogging them. Leaves, twigs, dirt and other nature findings contribute to this problem and can, in return, cause the gutters to dam up, overflow and eventually pull the gutters loose triggering the need for gutter repair.

Cleaning your gutters is a very simple task that shouldn’t take you very long to do. It is something that is crucial to keep up with so that you don’t put your home at risk for flooding or rain gutter damage in general.
